Voting

I voted for the first time in my life a few weeks ago. I've been a bit more into the race this year but then how could someone who watches TV as much as I do avoid it? They're everywhere and the news types are making into quite a big deal. I don't get the reason for the whole winning of delegates thing. Do other countries vote that way? Has it been re-evaluated lately? Is it necessary? It kind of sucks that someone can have the number of votes but because they don't win the right states they don't get elected. Can anyone explain?

My dad explained it all to me once and it seemed to make sense at the time. However, as a democrat, I've had a hard time making sense of it after the past few elections!

I thought the delegate thing right now was just to determine who gets nominated, but I could be wrong about that. I've never understood why we use the electoral college in elections.

Right now is about the nomination. But from my uniformed perspective, both the delegate thing and the electoral college seem to be based on the same principle. I need to understand it more I guess. Why doesn't it seem like the GOP has the same issues?

I just re-read what I wrote and see how it sounded confusing. I'm just perplexed at how Obama could win more states but because they're not the states with the most delegates he won't get the nomination. Which kind of reminds me of Gore winning the popular vote and not getting elected. It made sense in my head but I just didn't type it out that way. Sorry.
