Voting Schmoting

I voted yesterday. Honestly if there had been a slight chance of me standing in line for anywhere near an hour I probably would have skipped it. But I went at 2pm and walked right up to the N-Z table, got checked in and waited 2 minutes for a machine to open up. In almost exactly 10 minutes I had left my house, voted and made it to the gym parking lot. I felt badly for those who were in line for 3 hours. Heck, my mom and grandmother went at 10am and had to wait an hour. This was my second time voting ever. I voted in the primaries and then again yesterday. I still have this overwhelming feeling of 'what was the point?' I lived in California which was a mainly Democratic state so it never mattered who I voted for there. I now live in South Carolina which is a mainly Republican state so it doesn't seem to matter here either. It'd be cool to live in one of the too-close-to-call swing states.

Anyway, in the spirit of the elections I need y'alls help with something. I've tasked myself with baking a sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving. I don't actually like sweet potatoes so I have no preference for how it gets made. But I found some cool recipes yesterday so I was hoping you guys could check them out and let me know which one sounds good to you.

OH!!! I have a warning. I watched The Happening last night. It was not good. The dialogue was corny, the acting was thin and the ending wasn't as cool as it could have been. I have more to say about it but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who really wants to see it.

You may think that your vote didn't count, but if you didn't vote, and another person doesn't vote and so on and so on... it does add up! I'm a nerd and have voted in every election since I was 18. Just think of all the countries that don't even get the CHANCE to vote!

One of my friends in Kenya told me that they're having a national holiday tomorrow to celebrate Obama's win. They are really excited over there.

Hey, so don't pass up your chance to vote on my Thanksgiving pie! Which one sounds better to you?

I don't totally dislike sweet potatoes. I tried sweet potato fries and I liked them. But then you can fry most anything and it's good.
