Mmmmm

I made manicotti last night. Not bad if I say so myself. I added some spices to the cheese mixture which helped. I never realized there was egg in it but I guess that binds the mixture together. My next Italian dish will be chicken parm which is my absolute favorite Italian meal. Should I bother making sauce from scratch? I don't know why though because I like the stuff in jars. Sure, I add spices to the jar sauce but it tastes pretty good. One thing I'd like to say, I'm glad we have dull kitchen knives. The knife I was using to cut the bread slipped and scraped the nail on my middle finger. If it had been any sharper I bet it would have meant a trip to the urgent care place again.

Yum! I love manicotti! That's so cool that you make it homemade. I'd vote for just buying the sauce in a jar and adding spices like you're saying. I mean, if you spend too much time in the kitchen, you might miss tv, and we don't want that!

I should try manicotti sometime. That sounds like the perfect thing to reheat for lunch on a day like this.

Do you make the filling for the cannoli and buy the shells then?

maybe you can find a bakery in south philly that can ship them! because they really are better when they are made by a little old italian lady. the same way that peirogies are better when made by little old polish ladies.

My aunt and grandmother made the best pierogies. My grandmother was actually born in Poland, but my aunt still qualifies as a little old Polish lady, I would say.

Man, I really want some cannoli now!

Jar sauce!! I buy Barilla and it is good...only reason I buy it is I saw the plant in Italy on the way to Rome from Milan in the truck with 2 men who didn't speak English...ah, good times! :)
