Um, we were there, eh?

Ok, maybe my memory isn't what it used to be but I'd think 2 against one would be proof enough. Not for my dad. Ok, we got talking about Canada for reasons I'll share momentarily but I said something about when we went to Niagara Falls. Dad says we were on the US side. Mom and I recall going to the Canadian side. He says we never went through the border. Actually I don't remember going through the border but I am almost POSITIVE we were there. Frustrating.

Anywho, one of my most favorite people in the world, Betty Ann, is getting married. Betty Ann lives in LA but is trying to sell her home. Her fiance lives in Mass. in the new home they built. BA's family is in London, Ontario. So she's thinking they're going to do the wedding in Canada so her mom can do most of the planning. She called today to see if I'd make it to the wedding if it were in London. I said of course. Then she said she was hoping I'd agree to stand with her as her (one and only) attendant in the wedding. I'm THRILLED!!! I'm thrilled that BA has found the man she's going to spend the rest of her life with. I'm thrilled that she asked me to be a part of it. And I'm thrilled to go to Ontario for the SECOND time. That's right people, 2 times in Ontario. Hey Dad! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Happy Happy!

Merry Christmas!

It's just not right.

Sharon Stone and Christian Slater have confirmed rumors they're dating and now plan to spend Christmas together. The starry couple, who co-star in new movie Bobby, sparked romance rumors when they attended a string of events together, but refused to confirm their relationship. But now 48-year-old Stone and her 37-year-old beau aren't hiding their affections for each other and made sure everyone knew they were a couple. A source close to Stone says, "They're both really happy - but they don't have long-term expectations. It's a fun fling for the holidays and Sharon is a good influence. She rarely drinks and has three kids. It's a good match for now."

Ewww!

Now if I could find my unicorn Trapper Keeper...

I'm officially a student again. I'm really pumped up to get this masters over and done with so I can quit being a secretary, sorry 'administrative assistant'.

We're almost there...

Ok, 2 1/2 days this week. I can do it. I tried baking yesterday and that was a pain. I tried new cookies which I guess was a mistake. I didn't even get to 2 of them. I made the cutest Rice Krispie treats though. You trim one end to kind of round it off and then decorate it to look like a package tag. They turned out well.

Oh and I wanted to post this picture because it's so cute. This is Gus in his fall sweater. He needs a Christmas sweater but it's not quite cold enough for it yet.

There will not be lampshades on anyone's head

Today is the office "Holiday" party. No alcohol will be served. No people getting toasted on spiked punch or egg nog. Generally it won't be any fun at all. Especially since I'm kind of in charge of it. This year people have offered to help so I'm telling them they need to assist with cleanup. Cleanup is by far the worst part of any party.

Fancy Christmas

So I realized that my house has like 6 or 7 Christmas trees.

This is mine with the flash working:

This is mine with the flash off and the aperture open a bit more:

It makes my room look really pink.

Is it me?

I was driving in to work and it started to shower. It was light but enough to use my windshield wipers. But then I realized that no one around me was using their wipers. Was it just my car that was getting the rain? Do I have weather paranoia?

Interesting...

I actually got some stuff done this weekend. Laundry, christmas stuff, etc. I need to go to Target tomorrow. I'm all sorts of excited about it. I need winter type shoes because mostly I have open-toe type shoes which are no good when it's like 30 degrees outside.

We're having a Hallway Holiday Brunch on Friday. I'm making a punch. Good times.

"I've got my love to keep me warm!"

No new Office tonight. I wish I had the DVDs from last season so I could watch the Christmas episode to get my weekly Jim fix. Oh well. Maybe I could get this shirt to keep me warm.

It's going down to 28 tonight and will only get up to 47 tomorrow. I LOVE IT!!!

We got some cool news on campus this morning. Two cadets were chosen to be on Wheel of Fortune when it tapes here. One guy was named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship but didn't get it. Does getting on Wheel make up for that?

Gee, I love when SC is in the national news...

12-year-old gets a bad unwrap
Mom has son arrested for allegedly playing with present before Christmas

COLUMBIA, S.C. - A fed-up mother had her 12-year-old son arrested for allegedly rummaging through his great-grandmother's things and playing with his Christmas present early.

The mother called police Sunday after learning her son had disobeyed orders and repeatedly taken a Game Boy from its hiding place at his great-grandmother's house next door and played it. He was arrested on petty larceny charges, taken to the police station in handcuffs and held until his mother picked him up after church.

"My grandmother went out of her way to lay away a toy and paid on this thing for months," said the boy's mother, Brandi Ervin. "It was only to teach my son a lesson. He's been going through life doing things ... and getting away with it."

Police did not release the boy's name.

The mother said that her son was found in the last year to have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder but that his medicine does not seem to help.

She said he faces an expulsion hearing at his school Wednesday. Rock Hill Police Capt. Mark Bollinger said the boy took a swing at a police officer assigned to the school last month. He has been suspended from school since then.

The boy's case will be presented to Department of Juvenile Justice officials in York County, who will decide what happens to him, Bollinger said. His mother hopes he can attend a program that will finally scare him straight.

"It's not even about the Christmas present," she said. "I only want positive things out of it. ... There's no need for him to act this way. I'd rather call myself than someone else call for him doing something worse than this."

Oddly enough, I don't disagree with the mom. Obviously it depends on the circumstances but when you can't get through to your kid then you may need to take extreme measures.

Wow.

What was she thinking? I got quite a kick out of the fake conversation too. But seriously, did she even look in a mirror? Actresses need to not only turn sideways in a mirror but also exhale whilst doing so...

I'm a pseudo-auntie

Morgan Tanner Carr was born on December 1st. He's such a beautiful baby!

I'm no addict!

I bought some Mucinex D at the drugstore yesterday. It's kept safely behind the counter in case meth-heads want at it. The pharmacist took my driver's license and recorded a bunch of info in her computer. So if I get arrested, y'all will know why.

The fun part is that I left it at home today. So I'm currently trying to battle the headache that has been plaguing me since yesterday. Tomorrow I'll pump myself full of that Mucinex and sleep the day away.

Well the uncle was *thinking* of leaving yesterday but due to high winds (?!?!), chickened out. It's going to be bad weather until next week so who knows when he'll actually leave. And to think he'll be around for Christmas too. UGH!!!

My pseudo-sister, Andrea, was induced last night so everyone say a prayer for her and her new baby boy, Morgan. He may have spina bifida so we're all a bit concerned.
