It's gonna be 78 today

I WANT FALL!!!! Sure, next week's highs will be in the 60s but still, it's like almost 80 here. Ugh!

I'm not feeling well so I stayed home today.

Oh and we're that house. You know, the house that gives out the healthy treats. We're giving out Animal Crackers and Teddy Grahams. Secretly I'm hoping the kids pelt our house with them because I love me some Animal Crackers.

Happy Halloween y'all!!!

I'd have more money too

If I were a lawyer, I'd buy this shirt...

Never good to compare...

Last year was much more enjoyable than this year. I guess this is premature though because we're only a couple of months into the school year. But without Trigger and some of the cadets I made friends with, it's just kind of a boring year so far.

Mmmmm

I made manicotti last night. Not bad if I say so myself. I added some spices to the cheese mixture which helped. I never realized there was egg in it but I guess that binds the mixture together. My next Italian dish will be chicken parm which is my absolute favorite Italian meal. Should I bother making sauce from scratch? I don't know why though because I like the stuff in jars. Sure, I add spices to the jar sauce but it tastes pretty good. One thing I'd like to say, I'm glad we have dull kitchen knives. The knife I was using to cut the bread slipped and scraped the nail on my middle finger. If it had been any sharper I bet it would have meant a trip to the urgent care place again.

Why I like, ok love, TV

Earl and The Office was the best hour of TV I've seen in a while. Between Ralph fake humping Earl's mom and the final scene of them dancing to Mr. Roboto, Earl had me crying I was laughing so hard. Then The Office was very sweet and very amusing. I enjoy the small stuff like the conversation between Kelly and Angela about how weird Dwight is and how Angela completely overreacted. Such a great show.

The 2006 Restaurant Guide came out in today's paper. I'm determined to go to a lot of these places. I was overjoyed to see that there's a growing interest in Asian food. There's a new Vietnamese place which is awesome because I'm craving some pho. Now if only there'd be a boba place...

So glad the week is almost over

Perfume Pat strikes again. I think she doused herself because she's trying out for Wheel of Fortune today. Her strategy may be to ensure that those around her lose consciousness due to her overpowering perfume.

Ann from down the hall gave me a cartoon this morning. If I had a scanner I'd post it but alas I do not. There's a woman at a perfume counter and she says to the saleslady, "I'm looking for a scent that will make people's eyes water on elevators." I wonder if that was coincidentally out of today's paper or if Ann has been holding onto it until Pat had a day where she bathed in perfume. Either way I chuckled.

Real southern wedding

It was lovely, it really was. Very classy, very surprising (a bagpiper!), and very fun (wee bit too much to drink).

The bride and groom looked great

We looked great

But, yep, there has to be a but. Please don't get me wrong, I love these people like they were my family. In fact I enjoy being around them much more than most of my actual family. But when I saw this I had to chuckle because I knew I was in the south.

Pudding can be dangerous

My supervisor took me to lunch today. We went to an Indian restaurant and it was her first time trying Indian food. Luckily they had a buffet so she could sample stuff. Well I think I was being punished for getting dessert even though I only got a small spoonful of each kind of pudding (rice pudding and mango pudding). On the way back to the table I stepped wrong on the rug which had a perpendicular rug under it and took a tumble onto my knees. I kind of wrenched my back when I grabbed something to hold onto. The mango pudding ended up both on my arm and on the floor. The rice pudding was ok though.

Wheel! Of! Fortune!

"A crew from Wheel of Fortune will be working and filming on Summerall Field between 7:30 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Please refrain from using Summerall Field during this time. Cadets should plan to walk around the field when going to class."

When I was quite a bit younger I'd pray for God to bless Pat Sajak. No idea why I felt the need to pray for Pat Sajak but whatever. Then later I read some book about LA women (struggling actresses, models & hookers) who slept with a bunch of famous people in the 80s/early 90s. One of these women claimed to have had a threesome with Vanna and her husband. I'm sure it's not true but it still tainted my views of the woman in control of all those letters.

Foot fetish

I either encountered a foot fetishist or a really observant guy yesterday. I was getting gas ($2.09 a gallon, thank you) and the guy on the other side of the pump says to me, "You didn't do your toes." Puzzled, I replied, "I'm sorry?" "Your toes, you didn't paint your toenails." He was right. I only did my fingers and had planned on doing my toes last night. I've never encountered a guy who noticed things like that.

I'm eating frozen grapes right now. They're like little popsicles. Yummy.

Rain, rain, go away!

I'm driving up north this weekend. Mom and I are going to a baby shower in Virginia Beach. I've never been to Virginia Beach. And in a cruel twist, it's going to rain the whole weekend. We're splitting the drive up (3 hours tonight, 4 tomorrow) so that won't be too bad. Sunday will be annoying though. I just hope that it's not a thunderstorm with heavy downpours. Driving in rain always stresses me out.

I decided to spend a little time on Myspace last night. People find you and it's weird. I wouldn't even know how to search for someone on there. I had messages that people sent me from this past March and April. My friend Hot Jon found me on there and I asked him how. He explained that it's the perfect thing for stalking. Shocking. No wonder it's dangerous for young kids and those scary grown ups with a penchant for young kids.

We could call her Dijon!

We almost added a third to our brood last night. Mom and dad picked up a stray weiner dog. Dad walked her around the neighborhood and rang doorbells to see if she belonged to anyone. No such luck. They decided they needed to take her to the SPCA so they could 'take care of her'. The vet at the SPCA figured she was about a year old even though she weighed in at about 25 pounds. She was a happy and obviously well-fed dog. My mother called to tell me about all this and of course I was squealing at the notion of a new dog in the family. My dad, surprisingly, would have kept her. Mom, not so much. Of course then I regaled my mother with tales of euthanasia, medical experiments, etc. so as not to leave this dear, sweet dog at the SPCA. She didn't buy it. Oh well.

Too bad I don't own a convertible

I'm really looking forward to the next couple of weekends. I'm a big fan of road trips. I'm driving up to Virginia Beach with my mom on Friday for my pseudo sister's baby shower. I'm finally going be a faux-Auntie! Of course I went nutty buying tiny onesies and bibs this past weekend but that's ok. We're staying in a hotel on the way up on Friday night and then another one in Norfolk on Saturday night. I have a thing for hotels. Maybe it's the free continental breakfast and USA Today. Maybe it's just the quick break from my every day. Either way, I'll be enjoying myself. I wish we had another day there. A day to lay out by the pool and relax but I have to get back to work because my co-worker decided to go away the same weekend. Whatever. My mom wants to listen to books on tape. I need to see what she has in mind before I commit to it though.

Anywho, the next weekend my awesome friend Katie is coming down from the general Philly area for a wedding we're attending. Our friend Rebecca is getting married and I'm very happy for her. And that means hotel #3 for me, the Edgefield Inn. Should be a fun weekend.

The following weekend, I'm not going to do a damn thing. Well maybe watch some football.

Retarded sunburn

I get the most retarded sunburns. This most recent one was thanks to spending the afternoon watching a football game. During this football game, my face was on the jumbotron of what is proclaimed to be the biggest scoreboard in South Carolina. Yay me.
