Sick and tired...

...of being sick and tired. So what I thought was a cold seems to have turned into a sinus infection. Do I go to the doctor? Do I just ignore it and hope it passes? Tylenol Sinus really helps with the sinus pressure so part of me wants to just give that a chance. I'm getting maybe 3 hours of sleep a night which is no good. I'm only at work today because I can't remember how many sick days I have left.

Oh and the Uncle is still at the house! And apparently now he's feeling like he's getting sick which will be his excuse to stay longer. My mom is frustrated that I don't like him. I don't know what to tell her. Supposedly he comes down to see my grandmother and Jess & her kids but he's only been over to see Jess once. And he and my grandmother don't seem to be spending all that much time together. They went to Beaufort for a day but other than that, he spends most of his time in the spare room or driving around. Personally I think he's just avoiding his life at home. I don't blame him, he's got a sucky life.

So annoying

Maybe it's just because it's Monday but everything is annoying. Pat's perfume. Pat clipping her nails at her desk! The fact that my uncle isn't showing any signs of leaving yet. But what's really killing me is that I just checked the weather for the week. It's supposed to be 79 on Wednesday! Then it'll drop again and end up at 56 on Sunday. So irritating.

I need a nap. A shot of vodka and a nap.

IT'S SNOWING!!!

Ok, so it's switching between snow and sleet but I definitely saw snow. So weird. Oh but it's going to be 70 on Friday. It's 38 degrees outside right now and the high is supposed to be in the mid 40s but it'll shoot back up on Friday. It's not a gradual increase either. NO! It's going to be the mid 50s on Thursday and then 70 on Friday. No wonder people, and by people I mean me, are sick all the time.

But for now, IT'S SNOWING!!!

The Ballad (saga?) of Jim and Pam as requested by Ashrey

Picture it...Scranton, Pennsylvania, 2005.

Jim and Pam are very good friends but Jim harbors a secret crush on dear Pam. Meanwhile Pam was loosely engaged to Roy who worked in the warehouse downstairs. Roy didn't appreciate the wonderfulness that is Pam and that frustrated Jim (For instance, we find out that on Roy and Pam's first date, Roy took her to a hockey game and then left her there by mistake. DOH!). But the crush isn't all one sided. A hot girl drops by the office to sell handbags and she and Jim hit it off which notably affects Pam.

The Christmas episode is when Jim bought her a very thoughtful gift (teapot) with an uber-sweet note inside. Well their boss, Michael, gets the idea to do a white-elephant/yankee swap/etc and that almost ruins Jim's gift for Pam but in the end all is well.

The next episode, The Booze Cruise, is when Jim almost tells Pam how he feels but before he can do so, Roy announces to everyone that he finally wants to set a date for their wedding. Poor Jim! Jim's bummed and tells Michael that he has a crush on Pam. Of course Michael can't keep that to himself so in the next few episodes Jim has to do damage control saying that his crush was when they first started working together.

Most of the rest of season 2 is Pam planning her wedding and Jim planning a trip to Australia. Then, in the final episode, Jim not only tells Pam but kisses her. If only that could have been me!!! Anyway we find out that he's accepted a job in the Stamford branch. And we all know he would stay if Pam reciprocated. She does admit to her mom that he's her best friend and that she does love him. Alas she decides to stick it out with Roy. She's loyal to a fault.

This season starts by letting us know that Pam called off the wedding and is single now. Roy has finally realized he let go of the best thing that ever happen to him so he's now interested in getting back together but doesn't let Pam know. And Jim, in Stamford, has been flirty with new girl, Karen. And as of last week, they're officially dating and Pam is bummed.

Ok, what did I forget? Any priceless Jim/Pam moments?

Good times, good times...

Earl was very cool last night. I was disappointed that they didn't animate Christian Slater too. Ok, Christian Slater was my all-time, absolute favorite actor when I was a teen (the years after Corey Haim). And after last night I realized I still find him to be terribly attractive. Katie, are you with me?

I think last night's The Office was awesome. I'm bummed about Jim and Pam but I can't wait to see how it all works out.

Ok, but was it me or was the supersizing more about extra commercial time and not really about extra show?

My kingdom for stuff that works

Of course my kingdom isn't worth all that much. But it would be nice to have electronics that don't give up. Maybe I asked too much of my FauxVo. Maybe I was unreasonable with my demands. Always watching and deleting, watching and deleting. Ok, so I had like 8 episodes of one show stored on there. I was going to watch them. Really, I was. Surely it wasn't protesting my choices. Yes, I record Rachael Ray but I fast forward through most of it and try to avoid the incesant screaming. Everything else is top of the line television. I'll now be on my third FauxVo.

Winter sports

I'm ready for hockey and basketball, my two favorite sports. The cool thing is that Charleston has a minor league hockey team and as far as basketball, well I can always see my school play. I definitely miss going to see the Clippers play. Dad and I always had fun scoping the B & C list celebs at the games. Although Adam Sandler was at a game once and he's pretty famous.

Anyway, I think I'm going to a hockey game tonight. My friend Debra's boyfriend got us tickets. Of course I have $5 in my purse and no idea how much parking is going to be. Geeze, I hope it's not more than $5. Have I mentioned how much I hate paying to park?

I can't believe Rutgers won!!!!

My dad's best friend, Merritt (Unc, or Uncle MeMe is what I've always called him) is a huge Rutgers fan. My dad has always had them in his top 5 so the two of them have lived under a veil of disappointment for many years. They call each other before each game and then commiserate the next day. Rutgers has never been a winning team. Not until this year. They're on fire. They beat Louisville, the #3 team in the nation, dashing their hopes for a national title. It was quite a game too. RU came from behind to win by 3 points. Amazing.

The Office was good last night and during the show I even thought of something to blog about. It's now gone from my mind completely. Oh well. I'm glad Big Tuna is going to be back in Scranton where he belongs.

Didn't I trip you once?

Lost was quite good last night. It was back to it's old self and that was great to see. Katie, you watch, right? Please tell me you remember Kate's hubby and our 'run-in' with him that fatefull night in Hollywood. First Katie and I went to a place called Dublin's (Ash, it's where you and I saw Vince Vaughn) which is a seen and be seen type sports bar. We were sitting on stools at a table near the bar. I stretched out my leg just as one Nathan Fillion walked by. At the time he was the boyfriend of the girl on Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place (worst title of a show).

Later that night we moved on to the ultra hip, ultra dark Bar Marmont. That's where we got to see a bartender refuse service to a Backstreet Boy because he missed last call.

I love celebrities

This video from last night's CMAs totally cracked me up. Pay close attention to Faith Hill when they have the screen split between all the nominees.

Somebody has a case of the Mondays!

Traffic has gotten noticeably worse after the time change. I noticed that in LA too. I wonder what that is. So now I have to get on the road earlier than I already do which isn't going to be fun. And the fantastic news (heavy sarcasm) is that they've got lots and lots of houses that they're building in the next few years. YAY!!! There are three main roads leading into downtown Charleston and only one of those is a highway. And that highway is already packed by 6:30am. What the heck is going to happen with the traffic?

Kind of a slow Halloween

Not a whole lot of kids really. They didn't start coming until 7pm and we were out of Teddy Grahams and Animal Crackers (the non-iced kind) by 8pm. My father and I sat on the front porch which turned out very well. The dogs go ballistic when the doorbell rings so we decided to park ourselves outside. My dad even set up his little TV to keep us entertained. We watched The Simpsons and Seinfeld and actually got to see a lot of both shows, that's how few kids came by. Less than 100 for sure. The temperature was nice, high 60s I'd say, so the kids didn't have to wear coats over their costumes (something I suffered through as a child in NJ). My favorite was the flamingo, it was such a cute costume. But the cutest kid overall was this little blond haired, squeaky girl who couldn't have been older than 4. She had a backpack and a map with a smiley face on it sticking out of the backpack. I asked her, "Are you Dora?" She exuberantly replied, "I'm Dora!" I chuckled and said, "You look just like Dora." She replied again, with the same exuberance, "I'm Dora!"
