"I'm looking for a dare to be great situation."

My weekend was ok. There was good, there was bad and there was a lot of the inbetween. I'm stressing about something but won't have an answer about it for a week or so. I'll let you know if it turns out to be anything. Other than that I'm taking control of my life with a lot of guidance. It'll be a new and improved me and it's about damn time.

This morning I heard some high school kids trying to justify why they still go trick or treating. Sorry, I have to disagree. That's just candy greed. One of the guys on the radio show said they buy crap candy to give to anyone who has gone through puberty. But you know those kids are going home and beating up their younger sibling for the good stuff anyway.

Limitless paper in a paperless world

I really thought that Michael's commercial was pretty good. Once again, a great episode of The Office. I cracked up at 30 Rock last night too. I loved, loved, loved Alec Baldwin's therapy session with Tracy. Racial stereotypes be damned, that was some funny stuff.

Almost the weekend. 7 hours to go. I can do this.

It's the only song I know on the piano

If someone were to start playing Brahms' Lullaby right now I'd be asleep in less than a minute. I stayed up a wee bit later than usual watching Fear on TV. Who can say no to Marky Mark's ink smeared abs? Nicole 4 Eva. I hear ya, Mark, loud and clear. But seriously, Grissom is smokin' hot as her dad. There was one scene where he's brushing his teeth in a towel and besides a little tummy, he looked pretty darn good.

If only it were enough

Professor Swoon complimented my hair again today (it's raining out so my hair is big and curly). Later I was walking down the hall and he was walking towards me. He said, "Just the woman I was looking for." I just about melted even though he was asking me something about email.

Time to move

I saw an article about the cities that have the most attractive people. The city from which I was spawned, Philadelphia, ranked lowest. The city in which I currently reside, Charleston, was ranked #3 behind Miami and San Diego. I need to go to a city where the people aren't so attractive.

Somebody's Ready for Halloween

I'm always amazed when he lets me do stuff like this to him.

And just so you know I don't want to talk about college football. I will, however, express my concern for all my friends in Canyon Country, CA who may have been evacuated from the fires going on there. Malibu is getting all the attention but there are lots of fires happening all over SoCal right now. One of which looks like it's right down the street from my old house.

Deep fried turkey and lots of beer

Nobody tailgates like southerners tailgate. I'm sure those upper mid-west people think they've got it going on with all their polish sausages, etc. The west coast people tend to get fancy and probably think they're the best. But there's just something about a southern tailgate. Mostly because everyone is so friendly, even those from opposing teams. The food always tastes good and is always bad for you. I wish I were going to a tailgate this weekend. I used to have a friend who I could call and invite myself along but she's moved. I haven't even been to a game yet this season. I'll go the Bulldogs next home game and that'll be fun. For now I'll just settle for watching college football on TV.

In spite of myself

So I had written out this whole post about how I was dealing with the problem of the guy. I deleted the post though. I'll tell you this much, I decided I was going to cut back on talking to him. It worked yesterday so I was hopeful. He was in the office a number of times and I managed to not say a word to him. Today didn't work and it's only 9:30. It's frustrating for me but mostly because I can't admit to myself what I really want. I am trying to convince me that I'm being ridiculous about the whole thing.

Well it's a rainy day in the south. We need it too. The only problem is that it's not bringing cooler weather with it. It may cool off next week but I'm really tired of these 85 degree days. I WANT IT TO BE FALL!!!

I need to rethink this whole thing

The two guys I've liked most since moving here have been pretty immature. Ok, sure, one of them was like 9 years younger. But this latest one is a few years older than me and he acts like a 3rd grader. Seriously. And I'm not an overly maternal type person so how do I end up with these guys around me? Where's my mature, reserved, brooding man who likes to drink a glass of wine and discuss the poetry of Neruda or the politics of Mandela. Where's my deep thinker? Ok, so maybe I wouldn't be able to keep up with him (it took me a while to think of a politician) but I'd like to think that there's a guy like that out there who might be drawn to me. Then I would be able to move past the hair pulling and constant teasing. I want an OLD (but attractive) art history professor who wears a tweed jacket with the little elbow patches and smokes a pipe.

WTF?!?! College football edition

I don't think the polls have looked like this in years. It's a crazy, upside down world. At least Ohio State is there. I always expect them to be in the top. But some of those other teams are just nutty. Yes, I'm including my own Gamecocks in that statement. When that USC is ranked over the other USC, well there's just something not right. That was an ugly win over UNC but at least we won. Anyway, we've got some really tough games ahead so if we manage to stay in the top 10 I'll be THRILLED.

There's nothing left to say but, "GO COCKS!!!"

"I can't believe I gave my panties to a geek"

It's time to bust out the neon. I'm going to an 80's concert this weekend. No, I will not be dressing up or competing in karaoke. But I am looking forward to making fun of those who do.

I'm so glad it's Friday. I've been waiting very patiently for Friday to come. Now it has and I couldn't be happier. I'm even kind of looking forward to organizing the garage on Sunday. I feel a tag sale coming on. And we know that I could use a few extra bucks. I've got some happy hour needs that need fulfilling.

There is a full box of Krispy Kremes about 5 feet from my desk. I'm sitting here eating yogurt and being a good girl.

Seth Rogen is my dream man

Literally. I had a great dream about Seth Rogen last night. I actually think he's really cute but then I'm partial to Jewish guys anyway. In my dream I was in college and he was in some of my classes. We were hitting it off and went on a date, sushi and a movie. We made out during the movie which I believe was starring Jodi Foster and Matthew McConauwhatever. Odd pairing, I know. Anyway, Seth was a great kisser and things were going along quite well but then I woke up. Oh well. Huh, I just looked him up on IMDB and had no idea he's only 25. He's much younger than I realized.

I'm wearing super hot shoes today but they're too big so I can't really walk around in them. Thankfully they even look good while sitting which is how I spend the bulk of my day anyway.

Not a good day so far

A lot of little things are going wrong this morning. All of which ended up being fine but I always get a little wary when the bad things happen in a small span of time. Of course I'd rather have a bunch of little, relatively insignificant things go wrong than something big.

Oh and I'm really starting to dislike a couple of my adjuncts. Thankfully I won't have to deal with one of them next semester. So that's a good thing.

"Have you noticed that this church smells like diapers?"

Yes my dear friends, I went to a baptism. Not just any baptism either, I went to Miss Eva Cate's baptism. I'm pretty sure Ashley was beyond shocked when I showed up. I wish I had gotten a picture of the look on her face when I walked up.

It was perfect too because I called her from the hotel and pretended like I was just checking to see how the prep was going for the party. I found out she was in the back yard doing some work. I asked her about the weather and then tell her, "it's the same here too." Honestly I didn't even have to lie in that conversation. So we pull up to the house and Miss Connie is there and looks just as surprised. We walk around the back and I say something like, "Don't work too hard." Ashley turns and looks - her mouth wide open, saying nothing. For like a whole minute. I've never seen Ashley that quiet.

We had a great trip even though the hotels were less than stellar. The baptism was very cool (my first Catholic one) and Eva Cate was perfect. The party was fun and the food was great.

DC was awesome as usual. Saturday night I took mom to the WWII memorial and it was so cool to see at night. Actually this is the second time I've seen it at night. The first time was after it had opened and they didn't have the lights working. So essentially there were security guys in golf carts with the headlights pointed at the memorial. This time it was much better. Sunday morning we drove around Alexandria and mom fell in love with it.

Sunday night we drove down towards Richmond which turned out to be a good idea. Then yesterday we had breakfast at Aunt Sarah's Pancake House (not as good as I remembered) and were home by 2:30pm. I'm exhausted today but it was worth it. Plus we finally got my grandmother up north so it worked out really well.

I didn't end up taking very many pictures but here are a couple from the baptism.

I've never seen Mark grin so much since his wedding day.

SUCK IT, LEE CORSO!

38-23. I had to stay up for the game. There was no way I was going to sleep until I knew what happened. Last night was a great night. 30 Rock was great. The Office was great. Now all I need for it to be a perfect weekend is for LSU to stomp on Florida.

It's Friday. I hope today goes by fast 'cause I have a lot to do tonight and a big weekend to look forward to. YAY!!!

Oh what a beautiful morning!

It's raining. Both copiers are down. I have to do something for class today that I've been dreading. I've been awake since 3:30 (Ann can't have all the early morning wake up glory). And I've got a pinched nerve in my neck. Stress, you say? Why yes, I think I'd agree with that assessment.

But alas dear readers (all three of you) there is a silver lining to this day. For it is Thursday and Thursdays bring about a joy known as The Office. Before you are quick to reply, "But Alisa, that can't be the only good thing about Thursdays!" Quite right my dear friends, quite right. For tonight marks the return of my beloved 30 Rock! And there was much rejoicing...

We're Number 11!

I've never been so happy about a team being just outside the top 10 of national rankings! Ignore that dumb USA Today poll. What do they know? Anyway, I have until Thursday night to be happy. I don't want to be a pessimist but I'm not sure we can pull off a win. It'd be awesome but I'm trying to be realistic. Ann keeps telling me to be positive. Here goes...I'm positive that we won't look like complete idiots. How was that?

The weekend was a wash. I was ill and didn't do anything productive. That's not totally true. I went through a ton of magazines and can get them out of my bedroom now. I know that doesn't sound like much but I have a lot of magazines.

I really hope this is a good (or even just OK) week and that it goes by quickly. I've got some interesting plans for this weekend but it's a secret. Don't despair, hopefully I'll have some pictures to put on here next week.
